I remember way back when,
we met one day and I said hi,
and we started talking before I realized
someone said goodbye.
It was like an echo,
coming to me and to you
and it seemed to come from nowhere
until it had passed through.
"What was that?" I looked about.
"I don't know." You did the same.
We shrugged and laughed together,
as if it never came.
Soon after that, we tied a knot
that would bind us together for good,
and we made a promise to stay that way
like all best friends forever should
and I never thought back until now
to the goodbyes we heard before;
I don't know who said it then
but now the word means so much more.
Cause whoever they had been
I now had you to fill the space.
without even a moment of emptiness,
Someone came and took their place.
But now someone else is calling you
and pulling loose our tie...
I remember when I said hello
Now I'm the one to say Goodbye

I now had you to fill the space."
that should read ...I know...
Other than that, this poem holds a great deal of meaning.
